Volunteer Position: Meet and Greet
We need volunteer help to meet and greet our Public as they come in to adopt our animals.
This new role will be from 10am to 2pm and will be both weekdays and weekends. You will be trained in our adoption process for our Canine, Feline and Rabbit areas and will move around these areas with the public.

Volunteer Position: Feline Help
We need more volunteers to help with our felines, either weekdays or weekends. If you are interested in working at our village with our Felines, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Linda Evans.
Volunteer Position: Farm Assistants
Do you love farm animals and small animal pets? We are in desperate need of volunteers to help during the week down in our farm area.
There are some real characters down on the farm that really need some extra care and attention. You would be helping with feeding & cleaning. Full training provided.
Morning shifts are 8.30am-12pm and 1pm-4pm are the afternoon shifts.

Volunteer Position: Canine Café Companions
Purpose:
To assist with the promotion & re-homing of SPCA dogs & fully vaccinated puppies in accordance with our re-homing procedures & policies. To take SPCA canines into public places where allowed and promote them to the public with a view to them being re-homed.
Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator
Hours: Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am and 4pm.
Minimum of one hour per day and one day per week,
for a minimum of 12 days.
Responsibilities:
- Attend Volunteer Orientation
- Attend and pass the “Canine Personal Trainer” Training.
- Take fully vaccinated dogs & puppies into the community/events to create awareness & promote them for re-homing
- Excellent public relations
- Observe all Village Health and Safety and infection control protocols
- Identify and report any new hazards – including animal’s behaviour
- Report all accidents
- Ensure Village procedures are followed with regarding to getting dogs out of modules/pens and that lock-down procedures are followed
- Ensure that dog walking protocols are followed such as the correct use of the slip rope collars, correct words of command and hand signals, use of positive reinforcement
- Ensure that no harsh methods are training are used
- Ensure that the animal’s wellbeing and safety is paramount
- Exercise and interact with animals according to prescribed methods for obedience and behavioural rehabilitation at the village
- Take animals off the SPCA property with the permission of the Animal Attendant & a manager
- Only take animals on breaks with the permission of the Animal Attendant and when the circumstances are safe and appropriate in accordance with prescribed guidelines
- Monitor and report on behavioural changes and training progress
- Maintain appropriate records for the animals as directed
- Work cooperatively with volunteer and staff team members
- Always pick up poop when walking/moving animals

Volunteer Position:
Dog Adoption Assistant
Purpose: To assist with the preparation of a dog/puppy going to a home, assist team with the rehoming of dogs & puppies in accordance with village protocols and as directed by the Animal Attendant and Volunteer Team leader/Coordinator.

Duties |

- Pick up poop when walking/moving animals
- Process adoption paperwork including payments
- Reply to some email requests
- Returning dog/pup to module when interaction time is finished.
- Fetching adults and pups for adoption potential rehoming.

Volunteer Position: Canine Personal Trainers Wanted!
aka Dog Walkers!
Fancy taking a lovable pooch for a walk? The Auckland SPCA canine residents need some volunteer
personal trainers – and that could be you!
You will assist the welfare of our dogs by providing them with mental and physical exercise
and stimulation. It will help them to get homes and make their stay with us all the more enjoyable!
So what’s in it for you? Exercise, fresh air, training and the satisfaction of knowing
you have made a difference to a dog’s life.
Are you reasonably strong and fit? Reliable, dedicated with an affinity for dogs? Are you
keen to volunteer your time to the Auckland SPCA in Mangere?
If you answered yes to the above and have at least an hour to spare each week, Monday to Friday
between the hours of 9am and 4pm, then we want to here from you. A minimum commitment applies.

Volunteer Position: Current Auckland SPCA Internship programmes
Become part of the Auckland SPCA canine care team & gain extensive knowledge on the care of canines. This is a great opportunity to learn about canine behaviour, nutrition, disease control & enrichment in a kennel environment. You will be provided with training, an opportunity to recieve regular feedback & to recieve formal references.
Canine Care Intern
Duration: 2-3 days per week (weekday) for 6 months starting as soon as possible
Location: Auckland SPCA, Mangere
Knowledge & Experience: Confidence with dogs, studying or working toward an animal related course
Skills & Attributes: Personable & enthusiastic, commitment to animal welfare, reliable, show initiative & work without close supervision
Structure of the Internship:
The intern will report to the Volunteer Manager. The Volunteer Manager will ensure the intern is part of the team and is exposed to a variety of learning opportunities. This is a volunteer role at the Auckland SPCA.

Volunteer Position: Catward Nurse Assistant Volunteer Internship
This is an excellent opportunity to volunteer with some of the best in the Auckland SPCA hospital. You may be thinking of training to become a vet nurse or maybe you just want to do something different and worthwhile. You will assist with the care of cats, kittens and rabbits.
Duties:
Clean cage & prepare cages in the catward in the hospital
Clean & prepare litter trays
Dishes
Clean floors
Feeding of animals as directed
Prepare cleaning rags
Other duties as they arise
You will be available for a minimum of 2 week days a week for a minimum of 3 months and training will be provided. Please fill in the volunteer application form stating that you are interested in the Weekday Catward Nurse assistant role.
