SPCA Horse Welfare is specialist group concerned with the welfare of horses throughout New Zealand.
The International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH) was established in New Zealand in 1990 to act as an equine lobby and welfare protection group, and is now affiliated with SPCA Auckland.
Although its horse welfare activities are autonomous, the ILPH utilises law enforcement capabilities through SPCA Auckland’s warranted inspectors.
The IPHL investigates complaints, organises adoptions of rescued horses, ponies, and donkeys, lobbies to improve legislation and codes of practices related to equine welfare, and provides professional advice and assistance as required.

Auxiliaries and supporter groups comprise volunteers who assist the Society by providing valuable animal services in specialised fields, or who fundraise for the organisation through a variety of methods. The contribution provided to the SPCA through these dedicated people is immeasurable and warmly appreciated.
